Double Page Spread Research

Q Magazine Double Page Spread:
I think this double page spread works effectively with the magazine. I like the way that the photo takes up more than a whole page because it clearly shows who the article is about and the reader can see this before they even start to read the article.
Another part of the double page spread that I like is that there is a quotation in the corner of the page on the side of the photo. The fonts work well with the style of the magazine and Madonna's music style.

For my own double page spread, I think that I like the idea of having one main photo on the page (similarly to this article). However, instead of just having one photo, I would like to include at least one other photo. Also, I will have the title of the article at the top of the page so that I have more space for the actual article, this is because my article is longer than the interview on this page.

I also like the idea of having the quote in the corner of the page by the main photo. I will probably use this idea for my own double page spread.

Vibe Magazine Contents Page

I like the way that the word 'contents' is the main focus of this page. It is written in a unique style which makes it memorable and different from other music magazines.

I also like how all of the text is down the left hand side of the page; this also makes it unique. Although I like this idea, I think that the text should be more focused on as it is what the contents page is about.

Q Magazine Contents Page

I think I prefer the layout of this contents page to the other one because I like how the page is divided into sections such as 'Reviews' etc, and I like that the page is filled, there are no blank spaces.

However, I prefer the way the word 'contents' is the main focus on the Vibe Magazine front cover and I think that I might use something like that on my own contents page, but I will fill the page more like the Q Magazine front cover.

I changed the lighting on this photo because I thought that it was too dark to use on the front page of the magazine.

I moved the photo down slightly so that there was space for the title of the magazine on the front cover.

I added text for the title of the magazine. I also added make-up; I made the eye-lashes longer, added eye-liner and changed the colour of her lips. This was to make the make-up look more dramatic and more like she had dressed up for the photoshoot more.
